Legend in Motion: The Sixth Porsche 911 – In Dialogue with the Story of Hans Mezger

With the presentation of the sixth Porsche 911 ever built, STRINGS x CAR_ERA opened an extraordinary space at Goldberg Studios, bridging the gap between technological history and cultural memory. The vehicle, once owned by the Mezger family, exemplifies the origin of one of the most influential icons of automotive design.

Hans Mezger – CAR_ERA

That evening, Oliver Mezger, son of engine engineer Hans Mezger, not only opened the exhibition but also provided access to a narrative deeply rooted in the relationship between man, machine, and myth. His perspective underscores that automobiles transcend their purely technical function – serving as vehicles of identity, progress, and collective memory.

CAR_ERA – A Tribute to Hans Mezger

The CAR_ERA exhibition pays tribute to the life’s work of Hans Mezger, whose engineering expertise significantly contributed to shaping the Porsche DNA. On display are previously unpublished photographs from the private family archive, offering insights into the work processes, thought processes, and aesthetic environment of one of the most important designers in automotive history.

In curatorial collaboration with the Hans Mezger Archive, this exhibition opens a new perspective on the visual and cultural legacy of the „Pope of Engines.“

The selection of images follows a chronology of his work, revealing both technical precision and emotional resonance.
Accompanied by Oliver Mezger’s personal commentary, a multifaceted picture emerges of an era in which motorsport, design, and engineering were inextricably intertwined. The ongoing processing of further archival holdings will deepen and expand this dialogue between history and the present in the future.
